"Days of Pompeii" Series
A person interacts with the world through their own reflected voice.
Everything we know about the space around us is an echo of our aspirations, calls, prayers. Thinking, self-awareness, is locked in this truism, because beyond its borders is an infinite singularity, a frightening unknown.
Solipsism is in human nature.
But. What is more capable of telling about a person: his manifestations, appeals to the unknown, there, beyond the event horizon, or the emptiness that remains of a person if (and when) he disappears from the world?

A long time ago, at the dawn of archeology, scientists guessed to fill the voids in the ash and lava that engulfed Pompeii with gypsum. "Sculptures" arose - casts of the last seconds of the lives of the inhabitants of the vanished city. Eerie and beautiful.
Every moment that has passed into the past is an emptiness in place of our private existence...
The series "Days of Pompeii" by Olga Drob-Pervushina is an attempt to introduce native temporality into the archaic modernist painting practice. A cast, an imprint, of one of the moments.
